Title:
SHEET PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS55109548
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To readily obtain the sheet of metals of poor rolling workability by extruding the molten material which has melted in a heating vessel into cooling liquid then cooling and solidifying the same.

CONSTITUTION: Material of poor rolling workability, such as Sendut or Alperm in particular, in a heating vessel 2 is melted by supplying current to a high-frequency coil 3. At this time, a small amount of inert gas such as Ar is introduced through lead-in port 2a to prevent the oxidation of the molten material 4. Next, high-pressure gas is similarly led in to extrude the material 4 into a cooling liquid containing cell 2 through discharge port 2b. The material 4 in a semisolid state extruded into the cell 2c is cooled and solidified by the direct heat transfer of the cooling liquid 5, by which the sheet is produced. It is important that the material 4 is solidified near the outlet of the discharge port 2b by regulating the rate of cooling of the material 4 by the cooling liquid 5 and the rate of extrusion of the material.
