Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber, in which the axial length of an attenuation force generating mechanism is shortened.SOLUTION: In the side wall of an outer tube 3, there is formed a recess 55 which extends from an insertion hole 24 to the two sides of the axial direction of a shock absorber, and in which a first flange part 52 on the inner peripheral side of a passage member 48 is directly seated. As a result, the passage member 48 and accordingly an attenuation force generating mechanism 26 can be brought closer to the side of the shock absorber axis so that the axial length of the attenuation force generating mechanism 26 can be shortened.
