Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve fatigue strength of a gear, by a method wherein shot peening processing is applied by an injection means for shot particle having tooth profile shape making a pair with the gear shape of a gear to be processed. CONSTITUTION:A shot particle injection nozzle 3 is rotated through a bearing 6, and injects shot particle 4 through the same number of injection nozzles 7 as that of teeth of a gear 1 as the injection nozzle is rotated in a manner to gear it with the gear 1 to be processed. The shot particle 4 is selectively blown against the surface of a tooth root part 2b of the gear 1 through the injection nozzle 7 by means of a shot particle feed pipe 5. This enables reliable and stable improvement of fatigue strength of the gear.
