The communication system includes a plurality of communication devices, and a signal processor for processing packets flowing between the communication devices. The signal processor includes means for receiving packets from a transmission side communication device, and means for transmitting the received packets, as they are or while processing by packet processing means, to a reception side communication device of destination. When a transition is made from a state where the communication session connecting a first transmission side communication device and the reception side communication device is established, to a state where the communication session is connected between a second transmission side communication device and the reception side communication device, the packets received from the second transmission side communication device are processed so as to hold the continuity related to the content of packets being transmitted to the reception side communication device.
