Abstract:
To regulate the outside diameter of a silicone resin coated optical fiber to ≤300 μm without deteriorating the coating layer at the time of screening the coated optical fiber.
A silicone resin coated optical fiber 10 is composed of an optical fiber glass 14, inner and outer silicone resin coating layers 16, 18 disposed on the glass 14. In order to regulate the outside diameter of the coated optical fiber 10 to ≤300 μm, the hardness of the outer silicone resin coating layer 18 by the JIS-A method and the thickness of the layer 18 are increased to ≥70 and ≥30 μm, respectively.
