An upper optical module 101 of the camera 100 has a finder optical system 102 for observing a subject to be photographed, an imaging optical system 103 for forming an image of the subject on an IC chip 48, a light quantity restricting frame 83 for restricting light quantity incident on the IC chip 48, a stepping motor 50 and an autofocus module 5 for measuring a distance to the subject. An optical path of the finder optical system 102 is spread in the back and forth directions and in the left and right direction (XY directions) of the camera. An optical path of the imaging optical system 103 is spread in the back and forth directions and in the up and down directions (YZ directions) of the camera.
