Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new single molecular neodium carboxylate compound suitable for the use of polymerization of 1,3-butadiene or isoprene in combination with a halogen compound and an organometallic compound, and further to provide a catalyst containing the same.
SOLUTION: This single molecular neodium carboxylate compound is represented by the general formula NdHA4 (A is an 8-20C carboxylic acid group such as a neodecanoate group, an octoate group and a naphthenate group). The catalyst for polymerizing the diene comprises the neodium carboxylate compound, an organometallic compound (AlR23, MgR22, ZnR22 or LiR2) and a halogen compound [R'nAlX3-n, R'nMeXk-n or an organic halogen compound (Me is B, Si, Sn or Ti; and k is the valence of Me)].
