To simplify the piping of a sprayed water system and the piping of a circulated-cooling water system, and to make maintenance easy by mounting a pack plate and a closed heat exchanger separately from each other at different places in a compact cooling tower.
A sprayed water piping system A is mounted so that the water is sprayed to a pack plate 12 from an upper water tank 11, and the sprayed water flowing down as a thin film is brought into contact with the airflow flowing from an outside air intake port 13 toward an air discharge port 14 in a cross flow state, cooled by latent heat by the vaporization of sprayed water, collected in a concave water tank 15, pumped up by a pump and returned to the upper water tank 11 to be recycled. The plate type closed heat exchanger 16 is mounted in an open space at a lower portion of the air discharge port 14.
