Abstract:
PURPOSE: To easily control the distribution of deflection of a ski and its modulus of elasticity by segregating lower and upper surface members apart to form a cavity or room between elongated edges, and allowing the coupled part of the upper surface member extending to an outer contour from a segregated middle part to form an elongated side wall. CONSTITUTION: Upper and lower surface members 6, 10 are both formed into slender, similar planar configurations and have respective waist parts 20 at their front and rear ends and at portions halfway between them, and the overall outer periphery of the upper surface member 6 is secured onto the outer periphery of the lower surface member 10. Also, a long side wall is formed throughout the periphery of the upper surface member 6, and an expansion that projects above the side wall from the middle to the front of the ski and which gets lower in the forward direction is formed in the upper surface member 6. A cavity 14 forms between the front of the upper surface member 6 and the lower surface member 10. The distribution of deflection of the ski and its modulus of elasticity can be controlled readily by varying the compositions, heights, and configurations of the upper and lower surface members extending in the longitudinal direction of the ski.
