Abstract:
To provide a skin-lightening cosmetic exhibiting excellent bleaching effects and originated from a natural product.
Arenaria kansuensis Maxim. is a perennial small herb mainly distributed in China such as Tibet, Gansu, Qinghai and the western part of Sichuan, and grows in a crack of a stone in a high mountain of limestone or in meadow. The bleaching cosmetic is obtained by newly discovering that an extract of the Arenaria kansuensis Maxim. has melanin formation-inhibiting effects, and the cosmetic formulated with the Arenaria kansuensis Maxim. has the excellent bleaching effects although there is an example of the extract of the Arenaria kansuensis Maxim. formulated in an external preparation for the skin as a humectant.
