Title:
SLIDING MEMBER MADE OF ALUMINUM ALLOY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3102205
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a sliding member made of an aluminum allay of high performance not only excellent in wear resistance but also excellent in friction and wear properties to the mating member and inexpensive more than the conventional one.
CONSTITUTION: In a sliding member made of an aluminum alloy in which the sliding face part is compositely reinforced by a reinforcing material, the reinforcing material is formed of a mixture of alumina short fibers constituted of 80wt.% alumina, and the balance silica and in which the α alumina content is regulated to 5 to 60wt.% and aspherical mullite particles constituted of 40 to 86wt.% alumina, and the balance silica and having 3 to 60μm average particle size. With the volume ratio of the whole body of the composite part, the volume ratios of the alumina short fibers and mullite particles are regulated to 2 to 12% and 5 to 25% respectively.
