To provide a sliding type constant velocity universal joint capable of suppressing early exfoliation caused by the intrusion of hydrogen into steel, even if a lubricant or a small amount of mixed water is decomposed and hydrogen is generated in a contact surface.
The sliding type constant velocity universal joint is provided with an outer side joint member 1 formed with a track groove 6 for rolling torque transmission members, and allows angular displacement and axial displacement. A steel product containing C:0.45-0.65 wt.%, Si:0.1-1.0 wt.%, Mn:0.1-1.5 wt.%, and V:0.05-0.3 wt.% within each range as alloy elements, with the rest comprised of Fe and unavoidable impurities is used in the outer side joint member 1.
