Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket contact which hardly causes plastic deformation with low insertion force, and also is low in height, and capable of a high-density arrangement.
SOLUTION: A socket contact 10, at its socket 14, has a pair of spring arms independent from each other. Each arm has first spring arms 22, 22' extending from opposite side walls 20, 20' of a base 12 a long the axis of a contact 10, prolongations 24, 24' extending transversally from tips of the arms 22, 22', second spring arms 30, 30' extending from the prolongations 24, 24' to side walls 28, 28' of the base 12 in the opposite direction of the first spring arms 22, 22' and inwardly. The spring arm 22 and the prolongation 24, and the second spring arm 30 are arranged symmetrically with the spring arm 22', the prolongation 24', and the second spring arm 30' about the axis of the contact 10.
