Abstract:
To provide an energy storage device including a positive electrode region or other elements.SOLUTION: In an energy storage device having a main active region including a plurality of first active regions spatially arranged in a positive electrode region, the main active region expands or contracts from a first volume to a second volume during a charging and discharging period. A catholyte material that is spatially confined within a spatial region of the positive electrode region and spatially disposed within a spatial region that is not occupied by the first active region is provided. A protective material formed within the catholyte material to cover an exposed area of a positive electrode material in order to substantially maintain the sulfur species is provided. Further, a novel dopant configuration for LiaMPbSc (LMPS) [M=Si, Ge, and/or Sn]-containing materials is provided.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 18B
