Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid electrolyte which has a crystalline phase expressed by Na5XSi4O12 (X consists of ≥1 kind of rare earth elements, such as Dy, Gd, y and Sm), is provided with a skeleton having a network structure for effectively diffusing sodium ions into this phase and high polarizability and has excellent ion conductive properties and chemical stability.
SOLUTION: The solid electrolyte consists of a sintered oxide compact containing the rare earth elements (X), such as Dy, Gd, Y and Sm, and having the crystalline phase expressed by Na5XSi4O12 and is so composed that the electric conductivity at room temperature attains 10-3 to 10-2S. cm-1.
