Abstract:

To provide a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) having a solid electrolyte having high oxygen ion conductivity.

The fuel cell (SOFC) 10 includes a fuel electrode (anode) 12, an air electrode (cathode) 16, and a solid electrolyte 14, and is characterized by being constituted of a polycrystal in which the solid oxide 14 is crystal-oriented in two axial directions. Typically, such an SOFC is provided with a laminated structure composed of the fuel electrode 12 formed of a porous base material, the solid electrolyte 14 formed in a film shape on the fuel electrode 12 and supported by the fuel electrode 12, and the air electrode 16 formed on a surface of the film-shaped solid electrolyte 14.
