Abstract:
To provide a high-sensitivity solid-state imaging element and imaging device that can reduce photon counting in single photon counting.SOLUTION: A solid-state imaging element includes, for each pixel, a photoelectric conversion portion 2 for avalanche charge, and a signal readout circuit including an analog/digital conversion circuit that compares a voltage value corresponding to the amount of charge generated by the photoelectric conversion portion with a threshold voltage value, generates pulses, counts the pulses, and outputs the pulses. The signal readout circuit includes a first analog-to-digital converter that includes a comparator 41 and a counter 61 and has a threshold voltage VTH1 corresponding to the amount of charge generated by one photon, and a second analog-to-digital converter that includes a comparator 42 and a counter 62, and has a threshold voltage VTH2 corresponding to the amount of charge generated by the two photons.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
