Title:
SOUND INSULATING MEMBER FOR PIPING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3499352
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the sound insulating member which has sufficient flexibility and elasticity and is superior in machinability and constructiveness by mixing metal powder with a base material obtained by blending specific-wt.% ethylene propylene diene rubber and specifi-wt.% chlorinated butyl rubber.
SOLUTION: The sound insulating member l for piping covers the periphery of an in-building pipe P which distributes gas or liquid and the metal powder is mixed with the base material obtained by blending 60-90wt.% ethylene propylene diene rubber and 40-10wt.% chlorinated butyl rubber. Any metal is basically usable for the metal powder as long as its specific gravity is larger than the specific gravity of the base material since the purpose of the mixture of the metal powder with the base material is to increase the specific gravity of the sound insulating member 1. Here, iron oxide is most suitable as metal powder which can make the specific gravity of the sound insulating member 1 as large as possible and is easily obtained and inexpensive.
