Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark plug capable of effectively burning out carbon adhered onto a tip surface of an insulator by generating a leakage current between a convex part on an outer peripheral surface of a front end part of a center electrode and the tip surface of the insulator opposed to the convex part.SOLUTION: A spark plug 1 comprises: a cylindrical housing 2 provided with a ground electrode 21; a cylindrical insulator 3 inserted into an inner peripheral side of the housing 2; and a center electrode 4 inserted into an inner peripheral side of the insulator 3. At a front end side position where a front end of the center electrode 4 and a front end of the ground electrode 21 are opposed to each other, a spark discharge gap S is formed. On an outer peripheral surface 401 of a front end part 41 opposed to an inner peripheral surface 303 of the insulator 3, at the center electrode 4, an unevenness 42 whose gap from the inner peripheral surface 303 of the insulator 3 changes is repeatedly formed at a plurality of points in a circumferential direction.
