Title:
SPATIAL OPTICAL MODULATOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06138424
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To modulate an undiffracted component with a simple means and to remove a peak noise on a reproduction surface by obtaining a phase distribution to be recorded in a spatial optical modulator in the form of the product of a phase distribution which is complex-conjugate to a phase distribution recorded on a phase mask and a phase distribution for reproducing a desired image.

CONSTITUTION: The phase modulation type spatial optical modulator 101 is irradiated with a collimated laser beam. On the surface of the projection-side substrate 104 of the phase modulation type spatial optical modulator 101, the phase mask 105 is formed. A reproducing wave front passing through the phase mask 105 forms an image on a reproduction surface by the Fourier transforming operation of a lens 106. Then the phase distribution to be recorded in the phase modulation type spatial optical modulator 101 is given in the form of the product of the phase distribution which is complex-conjugate to the phase distribution recorded on the phase mask 105 and the phase distribution for reproducing the desired image. For the purpose, the phase of the undiffracted wave front generated by the spatial optical modulator 101 is modulated to remove the peak noise appearing on the Fourier reproduction image plane.
