Abstract:
PURPOSE: To synthesize a speech of tone on which the meaning of a sentence is automatically reflected by utilizing meanings of idiomatic phrases or KANJI (Chinese character) included in a Japanese KANJI and KANA (Japanese syllabary) mixed sentence has.
CONSTITUTION: An idiomatic phrase extraction part 6 extracts the idiomatic phrases from the input sentence and values obtained using a category dictionary 8 wherein numerals are registered for the categories of the idiomatic phrases, e.g. exigency are integrated by a category calculation part 7 to judge the category of the sentence and the level in the category; and a parameter generation part 4 controls speech parameter such as a vocalizing speed, a mean pitch, speech quality, loudness, etc., and a synthesis part 9 synthesizes and outputs the speech.
