Abstract:

To provide a control method of providing a desired speed change feeling even when speed change is carried out from a starting condition.

In this automatic transmission changing the number of rotations of a drive force source from the number of rotations before speed change to the number of rotations after the speed change in a targeted speed change period by gradually releasing friction transmission mechanisms, within a plurality of friction transmission mechanisms, used as a release side, and gradually engaging the other-side transmission mechanisms used as an engagement side, the targeted speed change period is set long when the speed change is started from a start condition (S402) and when the number of rotations (the estimated number of rotations) after the speed change of the drive power source is determined to be smaller than a predetermined number of rotations (S403).
