Abstract:
To provide a spool for an environmentally friendly filament product.SOLUTION: A spool (100) is constructed to support a roll of material. The spool comprises an arbor (102), a first flange (104) and a second flange (106). The first flange has a first plurality of flange panels (118a or the like) rotatably coupled to each arbor panel (110) of the arbor at a first arbor edge of the arbor. A second flange is coupled to a second arbor edge of the arbor. The first flange is constructed to shift between a retention configuration and an open configuration. In the retention configuration, removal of the roll of material from the arbor along an arbor axis is substantially prevented by the first and second flanges. In the open configuration, the roll of material can be removed from the arbor and can be received on the arbor in an arbor direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
