PURPOSE: To prevent errors from occurring to each of stamping stamps in positions in stamping on a sheet for a stamping device composed of a stamping drum with a plurality of stamping plates fixed thereon, and to provide an image recording apparatus that is equipped with such stamping device and is available for being free from errors in stamping positions.

CONSTITUTION: In a stamping device that is equipped with a stamping drum 45 for which stamping stamps 63a and 63b are interchangeably attached to a plurality of peripheral surfaces 45a, 45b thereof, a surface discernment sensor 71 (a stamping stamp discernment means) and a shielding sheet sensor 70 (a stamping stamp position detecting means) for detecting positions for attaching each of stamping stamps on the stamping drum 45 are provided.
