To provide a compacting device for home use, capable of performing compaction and separation of such different kinds of empty containers as empty cans and PET bottles while holding a standing position.

The stand-up type pedal-operated device for compacting an empty can comprises: a pressing plate 3, confronting slantingly to a vertical-like fixed plate 1, which forms a drop inlet 4; a fulcrum 6 and a lever arm 5 extended in the shape of L at the lower parts of both sides of the pressing plate 3; a spring 8 for holding an opening 2 between a horizontal arm 7, extended between both levers 5, and the fixed plate 1; a frame body 9 for standing the whole body of the device; and a pedal 12 for compacting an empty container 11 by pushing down the horizontal arm 7 via a connection arm 10, wherein a wall plate 16, having a selection plate 14 which is positioned downward the drop inlet 4 and the lower part of which is a pivot 13 and the upper part of which turns in both directions so that the length direction of the drop inlet 4 is divided into two parts, and having a cut 15 which is at an acute angle in the length direction directly below the pivot 13, is provided in parallel to the selection plate 14 and to be vertical-like, and also a selection means fitting member 18 with hooks 17 installed at the proper positions is fitted to the frame body 9.
