To provide a stator for enhancing a high speed ratio characteristic in stable travel (a cruise) when a rotating speed is further increased, by receiving large engine torque by enhancing a stall capacity factor in starting, by reducing an engine load by reducing the stall capacity factor in idling, in the stator of a torque converter.
A blade for constituting the stator is composed of a main blade 7 and a movable blade 8, and in idling, the movable blade 8 operates so that its pressure side surface abuts on a suction side surface of the main blade 7 by energizing spring force, and the movable blade 8 separates from the main blade 7 by the action of hydraulic pressure based on a flow of a hydraulic fluid in acceleration, and its suction side surface abuts on the pressure side surface of the main blade 7, and in the cruise when a rotating speed is further increased, the movable blade 8 is returned by restoring force of the spring, and abuts on the suction side surface of the main blade 7.
