To provide a simple and economical steel pipe pile for excavation, to be used when installing the steel pipe pile at a part with an obstacle such as an existing revetment or a footing foundation.

A steel pipe pile 1 for excavation includes a cutting blade 2 at a distal end, and has an opening/closing member 3 to be opened roughly in a semicylindrical shape from the distal end. To be concrete, an opening 4 roughly in the semicylindrical shape is formed at the distal end of the steel pipe pile 1 for excavation, and the opening 4 is provided with the opening/closing member 3 detachably or by a single hinge structure or a slide type joint structure. Also, a cutting blade 2 is provided also on the distal end of the opening/closing member 3.
