Abstract:

To provide a steel sheet plated with an Al based metal, having an improvement in the corrosion resistance at an end face, which has been a weak point of conventional aluminum plated steel sheets.

The steel sheet plated with the Al based metal superior in the corrosion resistance at the plated part and the end face, is characterized by having a coated layer consisting of, by mass, Mg; 1-15%, Si:2-15%, Zn: 11-25%, Sn: 1-15%, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities, and in that the length of a particle of an intermetallic compound such as Mg2Si formed in the plated layer is less than 10 μm. The steel sheet is product contributing to operations due to its prolonged service life and ensured maintenance-free, because of its greatly improved corrosion resistance of the plated layer and the end face compared to conventional products.
