PURPOSE: To provide the titled apparatus capable of preventing the collision of gears and performing paper feed in a low noise level, constituted so as to energize gears by a spring member so as to maintain such a state that teeth of two gears are mutually contacted always.

CONSTITUTION: A large gear 12 inlaid with and mounted to the rotary shaft 11 of a platen is constituted by two gears 12a, 13b and a pin 16 is planted and provided to the gear 13b so as to be protruded through the slot 15 formed to the gear 13a. A tensile coil spring 18 is provided under tension between the pin 17 planted and provided to the gear 13a and the pin 16. The teeth 20a, 20b of the gears 13a, 13b are positioned between a pair of the teeth 19a, 19b of a pinion 10 mounted to the output shaft 9 of a motor in a inlaid state and, even if the motor starts or stops rotation abruptly, the collision of the teeth 19 of the pinion 10 and the teeth 20a, 20b of the gears 13a, 13b are prevented.
