To provide a steering control device of a forklift, capable of preventing breakage of a switching element due to overcurrent when a deviation passes a dead zone.
This steering control device of a forklift includes a handle 9, a steering wheel not connected to the handle mechanically, a handle operating angle detector 3, a steering angle detector 33, a steering motor 35, a switching circuit 11 for controlling the drive of the steering motor, and a controller 10 for calculating a deviation between the operating angle of the handle and the steering angle of the steering wheel according to detection signals of the respective detectors, and outputting an on-off signal based on a PWM signal having a duty corresponding to the deviation to the switching circuit to control the steering wheel. The controller 10 has a dead zone for generating no on-off signal based on the deviation near the zero value of the deviation, whereby when the deviation passes the dead zone, switch control for forming a closed circuit including the steering motor 35 in the switching circuit 11 is conducted until the steering motor 35 is stopped.
