Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure strength by specifying a distance between a lock pin to be enagaged with and disengaged from a steering shaft and a guide protrusion part of a housing to slidingly move the lock pin.
SOLUTION: A lock mechanism switches a lock pin 39 slidingly moved by a slider by being held by a housing of a steering lock device to a lock condition of preventing rotation of a shaft 17 by engaging with an engaging recessed part 38 of the steering shaft 17 and a lock release condition of making the shaft 17 rotatable by releasing engagement. A guide protrusion part 11b is protrusively arranged in an installing part of the housing in response to the recessed part 38, and is fitted to a fitting hole 41 arranged in a steering column pipe 18. Next, when a distance up to an outside surface of the protrusion part 11b from the center of the pin 39 is denoted by (b) mm and a diameter of the pipe 18 is denoted by Dc mm, the distance (b) is set so as to satisfy f(Dc)=0.0031 Dc2-0.1375Dc+7.2 and f(Dc)-0.5≤b≤f(Dc)+0.5. A dimension necessary to hold strength of the guide protrusion part can be easily set thereby.
