This stereoscopic video recording and reproducing apparatus images a left eye object image onto one field of a video signal and a right eye object image onto the other field of the video signal and applies time concurrence to the progressive images of the object images. The stereoscopic video recording and reproducing apparatus converts the left eye object image and the right eye object image subjected to time concurrence into time division signals and displays the time division signals by using a lenticular lens or a parallax barrier system. Or the stereoscopic video image recording and reproducing apparatus may once record the photographed left eye and right eye video signals to a recording medium, reproduce the recorded video signals, apply time concurrence to them, and convert them into time division signals and thereafter display the signals.
