PURPOSE: To prevent the waste of a memory capacity by deciding part to be stored and parts not to be stored in a picture signal, recording the picture while designating a frame of the picture on the screen, recording the picture with reduction, and recording the picture while designating the frame and the recording position of the picture on the screen obtained through the reduction.
CONSTITUTION: The recorder is provided with a frame designation means (trimming means) deciding a portion on which a picture signal is to be stored and other portion on which a picture signal is not to be stored when a picture signal is recorded in a memory 4 to designate a frame on the screen, a reduction means reducing a picture, a frame designation means and a recording position designation means designating the recording position of a picture obtained by the reduction means on the screen. A processing section 5 being an execution section of the means is interposed between an A/D converter 3 and the memory 4 and controlled by a system controller 6 based on a signal from various switches SW1-SW9. Signals from a sheet number set switch SW9 and from a recording switch (release) SW8 are inputted to the system controller 6.
