PURPOSE: To produce the stock for a stainless steel wire free from the need of forming and removing a resin film using an organic solvent by users executing wire drawing.

CONSTITUTION: A water-soluble film is formed on the stock for a stainless steel wire. Thus, the film is formed into the water soluble one, and environmental pollution caused by an organic solvent is eliminated. Furthermore, since the water-soluble film is formed at a place in which the wire stock has been produced or in the process of the online, there is no need of forming a film by users executing wire drawing.
