To stably perform the storage and transfer of alkoxypolyalkylene glycol by storing and transferring it in an atmosphere within a container the gaseous contents of which is substituted by an inert gas and/or to the inside of which a radical scavenger is added.
In this method, alkoxypolyalkylene glycol to be stored or transferred is a compound represented by the formula R1O(R2O)nH (wherein R1 is a 1-30C hydrocarbon group; R2O is a 2-18C oxyalkylene group and the R2O repeating units are optionally the same as or different from each other, and when R2O is a mixture of at least two such oxyalkylene groups, the respective repeating units of these oxyalkylene groups are optionally added in a random or block manner; and n is a numerical value of 1-300). Also, when the gaseous contents of a container is substituted by an inert gas, preferably, air in the container is substituted by the inert gas of ≥70 vol.% of the total air in the container. Further, as a radical scavenger to be added to the atmosphere, t- butylhydroxytoluene is preferably used.
