To provide a streaming data compensation method in asynchronous packet communication, the method dealing with both a packet lack and excessive packets, so that it is not necessary to perform much compensation on one packet.

A receiver includes a receiver 1 for receiving packetized data transmitted from a transmitter, a packet compensator constituted of a DSP 2, and a digital-to-analog converter DAC 3 for converting a digital signal outputted from the packet compensator into audio.
