To provide a structure vibration damping device the structure of which is simple, and the earthquake inertia force of the upper structure of which is reduced.
The structure vibration damping device includes: a lower steel frame member 4 having a square-shaped cross-section in which both ends of an upper horizontal part 4a and a lower horizontal part 4b fixed to a lower structure side are connected by vertical side wall parts 4c and 4d; and an upper steel frame member 5 having a square-shaped cross-section in which both ends of an upper horizontal part 5a and a lower horizontal part 5b fixed to the upper structure side are connected by vertical side wall parts 5c and 5d. The lower steel frame member and the upper steel frame member are made orthogonal to each other, and the intersection part of the lower steel frame member and the upper steel frame member is arranged with an elastic body 8 whose upper part is fixed to the upper horizontal part lower surface of the lower steel frame member, and whose lower part is fixed to the lower horizontal part upper surface of the upper steel frame member, and when an earthquake occurs, the upper fixed part and lower fixed part of the elastic body are displaced in opposite directions against an inertia force acting on the lower structure, and the horizontal displacement quantity of the upper structure is reduced.
