Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL: An adduct of SO3 and acyloxybenzene of the molar ratio of the former to the latter of 0.9-1.1 (especially 1).
USE: An intermediate in the production of acyloxybenzenesulfonic acid.
PREPARATION: A compound of the formula (wherein R is a 2-19C saturated aliphatic group such as octyl group) is brought into contact with SO3 at -10 to 30°C to give an adduct. The presence of a diluent comprising a gas, or preferably liquid, or mixtures thereof is preferable from the viewpoint of temperature regulation.
