PURPOSE: To obtain a superconducting material having superior stability and high critical temp. of superconductivity by adding at least one kind of specified amt. of V, Nb, Mo, Ta, or W to a superconducting material consisting of a rare-earth element-Ba-Cu type compound oxide.
CONSTITUTION: The compound oxide type superconducting material of this invention is expressed by formula I (wherein R is at least one kind of rare earth element selected from Y, La, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, etc.; M is at least one kind among V, Nb, Mo, Ta, and W; p is 0.1W0.9; x is 0.5W2.0; y is 0.16W1.4; z is 0.02W0.2) wherein M is added to an oxide superconducting material consisting of the rare earth element, Ba, and Cu. A rare earth element-Ba-Cu-O type superconducting material having high stability in the air and having high critical temp. of superconductivity is obtd.
