PURPOSE: To miniaturize an exciting device by providing a driven block having two pairs of parallel vertical surfaces on the lower face of a table, and providing a side face guide provided with an exciting function on the vertical surface of said block.

CONSTITUTION: On four faces of the periphery of a driven block 2a, two pairs of side face guided 1-1W1-4 provided with a cylinder 5 and a piston 6 are arranged. At the time of exciting the guide 1-4, the piston 6 is advanced by supplying the hydraulic pressure to an oil duct 9c, and also, pressure is generated in a plane static pressure bearing 7 through an oil duct 9E and an oil film of δ of formed, and also, hydraulic pressure is generated in a cylindrical static pressure bearing 10 so that the piston 6 is excited smoothly, and when the guide 1-4 has advanced, the guide 1-2 retreats. The same operation is executed with respect to the guides 1-1, 1-3, as well.
