Abstract:

To provide a two-dimensional mode coupling type SAW filter provided with a sufficient attenuation inclination in a wide band by closely arranging plural surface acoustic wave(SAW) resonators on a piezoelectric substrate and constituting a filter by using plural resonance modes.

An IDT electrode 2 and grating electrodes 3 and 4 are closely arranged along the propagation direction of surface acoustic waves on the main surface of the piezoelectric substrate 1, grating reflectors 5a and 5b are disposed on both sides of them and the resonator A is formed. The grating electrode B is closely arranged parallelly to the resonator A. The resonator C composed of the IDT electrode 6, the grating electrodes 7 and 8 and the reflectors 9a and 9b for which the position relation of the IDT electrode and the grating electrodes is replaced though in constitution similar to the resonator A is closely arranged parallelly to the grating electrode B. The three resonance modes are excited respectively in a vertical direction and a horizontal direction, and as the result of acoustically coupling the modes, the nine resonance modes are excited.
