PURPOSE: To obtain a surface-active agent based on castor oil or recinoleic acid combined with specific structural units, which is suitable for outside painting applicable in the preparation of solid disperse materials which are aggregation-resistant and can be easily fluidized, especially disperse coloring agents.
CONSTITUTION: This surface-active agent is a compound based on castor oil or recinoleic acid and is composed of the following units (a)-(c); (a) 2-9-valent unit represented by the formula; (b) 1-72 formulas: a monovalent residue represented by -Z; and additionally, if 2 or more than 2 units of (a) are present, (c) 1-9 formulas: a dihydric group represented by CO-E-CO. In the above formulas (a)-(c), A represents a residue of natural or modified castor oil, or a residue of natural or modified ricinoleic acid; D is a direct bond, or a linear or branched residue of from a dihydric to a hexahydric alcohol; X represents CH2CH2 or the like; Z represents a residue Z1-Z6; and E represent a linear or branched or a cyclic aliphatic residue having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms.
