Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface boat that is simple in the layout of both intake and exhaust systems.
SOLUTION: A surface boat 1 travels on the water when a propeller 4 installed in the rear of a hull 2 is driven by an output shaft 28 of an engine 3. The engine 3 is of a V type with the output shaft 28 arranged along the longitudinal axis of the hull 2 and with the first and second cylinder shafts forming V-shaped banks. The space between the cylinders is positioned in the middle of the hull. An intake system extending from intake ports 16c in the engine 3 facing that space is directed up beyond cylinder heads 19 and 20. At least a part of an exhaust system extending down from exhaust ports in the external surface of the engine 3 before emitting exhaust outside the hull is arranged in a space that is defined above the exhaust ports 17a and 18a and below the upper end of the intake system in a laterally offset relation to the middle of the hull 2.
