This surface-coated cutting tool includes a base material and a coating layer, and in a cross section cut in a plane including a normal line with respect to a coating layer surface, when a straight line connecting a boundary point (a) between an area to which honing is applied on a rake surface of the base material and an area to which honing is not applied and a boundary point (b) between an area to which honing is applied on a flank thereof and an area to which honing is not applied is a straight line I, a straight line connecting a boundary point (c) between an area to which honing is applied on a rake surface of the coating layer and an area to which honing is not applied and a boundary point (d) between an area to which honing is applied on a flank thereof and an area to which honing is not applied is a straight line II, and an angle with which the straight line I and the straight line II cross is θ, the angle θ is within the range of 1°≤θ≤20°.
