Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated cubic boron nitride sintered compact tool comprising a hard coating layer having both of excellent wear resistance and excellent defect resistance.SOLUTION: In this surface-coated cubic boron nitride sintered compact tool, a hard coating layer comprising an alternating-layer structure of an A layer and a B layer is formed on the surface of a cBN substrate, the cBN substrate (sintered compact) comprises a Ti compound, WC, AlN, TiB, AlO, and cBN, the A layer has the composition (TiAl)N (where 0.4≤x≤0.7 by atomic ratio), the B layer has the composition (CrAlM)N (where 0.03≤y≤0.4 and 0≤z≤0.05 by atomic ratio, and M is at least one element selected from 4a, 5a, and 6a group elements in the periodic table, B and Si, excluding Cr), and the plastic deformation work ratio of the B layer is 0.35-0.50.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
