Title:
SUSPENSION LOWER ARM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5889409
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To save the weight of an automobile's suspension lower arm by placing a fiber reinforced block inside a core frame of woven fabric reinforced resin at the position where a stabilizer is to be fit to the arm, and foamed resin or so inside the same at the other part and by reinforcing the frame with layers of woven fabric resin on the external surface of the core frame.

CONSTITUTION: After a core frame 16 is molded from glass fiber reinforced plastics, foamed urethane core frames 12 and 14 are fit inside it at the base end part 10 and the opposite end 13 along with a reinforcing block 15 made of fiber reinforced plastics at the position 11 where a stabilizer is to be fit to the suspension arm. A base body 17 is thus prepared. The base body 17 is then covered with a woven fabric 18 and the block 15, the core frame 16 and the woven fabric 18 are permeated with epoxy resin or the like before hardened. The resulatant film is laminated thereon for reinforcement. The woven fabric is thereby continuously spread in the axial direction through-out the length of the arm, hence providing higher strength and lower weight.
