Abstract:

To provide a method for oxidizing trimethylphenol(TMP) into trimethylibenzoquinone(TMBQ) in the presence of any, of various molecular sieves containing various transition metals, respectively.

This method for oxidizing the trimethylphenol(TMP) into the rimethylbenzoquinone(TMBQ) contains a step of mixing TMP with a molecular sieve containing a transition metal in its skeleton, an oxidizing agent and a solvent to form the reaction system, which is then reacted at about room temperature to 150°C to obtain TMBQ. The concentration of TMP is about 5 to 60 wt.%. The molecular sieve includes zeolite which is selected from the group consisting of ZSM-5, ZSM-11, zeolite-X, zeolite-Y, zeolite-A, and β-zeolite.
