Title:
TACTILE SENSOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2520211
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To detect press contact position of an object accurately by applying a black light-absorbing part onto the tip of a protrusion of an elastic sheet coated with a white color.
CONSTITUTION: A light absorbing part 7 is applied onto the tip of a protrusion 3 which substantially comes into point contact with the surface of a transparent board 1. Upon press contact of an object 4 with an elastic sheet 2, the protrusion 3 is bent and collapsed in the press-contact region thus enlarging the contact area between the transparent board 1 and the sheet 2. Since the protrusion 3 is collapsed not only the tip thereof but also other parts in the press-contact region of the sheet 2 and comes into contact with the transparent board 1, light leaked through the contact part produces diffused light through the sheet 2. On the other hand, light absorbing part 7 of the protrusion 3 comes into point contact with the transparent board 1 in the non-press contact region of the sheet 2 and leaked light is entirely absorbed at the light absorbing part 7 thus preventing production of diffused light. Diffused light produced at the contact part is received 8 and focused on the light receiving face of a semiconductor position detector 9, which detects the center of gravity of the diffused light thus detecting contact position of the object 4 accurately.
