Title:
TASTE MASKING OF ORAL QUINOLONE LIQUID PREPARATION USING ION EXCHANGE RESIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2011246497
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
To provide an acceptable taste of oral quinolone liquid preparation.
The invention relates to the formulation of oral liquid preparations of quinolones or derivatives thereof using ion exchange resins, such as methacrylic acid polymer crosslinked with divinylbenzene, as the carrier. The formation of a quinolone-resin complex (resinate) eliminates the extreme bitterness of the quinolones thereby, making the liquid oral dosage form palatable. An aqueous pharmaceutical composition comprises: a. 0.01 to 30 wt.% of a quinolone compound or derivative thereof; b. 0.01 to 60 wt.% of the ion exchange resin; and c. pharmaceutically acceptable excipients to equal 100%.
