Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver that conducts optimum diversity reception in the quality of entirely reproduced information including sound information for actual viewers.
SOLUTION: The television receiver conducts diversity reception depending on a reception state. The television receiver is provided with a demodulation means 2 that demodulates a composite video signal from a received signal, S/N measurement means 72, 5 that measure an S/N of the composite video signal, vertical timing detection means 81, 82, 83, 5 that detect the timing of a vertical synchronizing signal of the composite video signal and a control means 5 that starts diversity reception based on the timing detected by the vertical timing detection means. The control means 5 changes frequency of the diversity reception at least based on the S/N. This includes random diversity reception and a change in frequency of depending on the reception state.
